One lakh spindles, live on Wizmen in four months

A spinning operation of 100,000 spindles brought onto one system — from cotton at the gate to yarn on the invoice — and live in just four months.

Overview

HAF runs spinning at scale: one lakh spindles, turning cotton into yarn around the clock. At that size, every lot of cotton, every frame and every count carries real money, and a slow or uncertain rollout is a risk in itself. HAF asked Wizmen to bring procurement, production, costing and sales onto one system, and to do it without holding up the mill. The full implementation went live in four months.

01The challenge

A mill this size cannot pause for a new system

With a hundred thousand spindles running, there is no quiet week to switch systems. The rollout had to be fast, and the mill had to keep producing throughout it.

  • 01

Procurement, production, costing and sales needed to move onto one system without interrupting the mill.

  • 02

Cotton arrives with varying weight, moisture and quality, and each lot has to be valued and paid for correctly.

  • 03

Spin plans had to be set against frames, spindles and targets, with stoppages recorded as they happen.

  • 04

Costing had to reach down to the count, so pricing could be decided on real figures rather than averages.

02Our approach

A rollout planned like a production schedule

We drew on two decades of spinning deployments to sequence the work, so each department went live on a fixed date with its records ready and its people trained.

  1. 01

    Mapped to the mill

The system was configured around HAF’s own departments, counts and process, using the standard spinning model as the starting point rather than building from scratch.

  2. 02

    Procurement first

Cotton contracts, receipt, weighing and moisture deductions went live first, so every lot entering the mill was valued correctly from the start.

  3. 03

    Production and costing

Spin plans, frames worked, stoppages and output were brought onto the system, with costing pulling material, conversion and overhead into the cost of each count.

  4. 04

    Sales into the ledger

Yarn sales, sales tax and receivables closed the loop, posting into one general ledger — completing the rollout in four months.

03The solution

An ERP that speaks spinning, at scale

The deployment is built on Wizmen’s Spinning Textile Industry Management System, running on the Wizmen Oracle ERP backbone.

Procurement

  • Cotton procurement
  • Yarn procurement
  • Weighing scale integration
  • Payables & aging

Production

  • Spin plan system
  • Yarn production
  • Quality control
  • Wastage & scrap

Costing

  • Spinning costing
  • Cost per count
  • Variance analysis
  • Machine utilisation

Sales & finance

  • Yarn sales
  • Sales tax reports
  • Receivables

04The outcome

A large mill, fully live in four months

HAF moved one lakh spindles onto Wizmen in four months, and now runs the mill from one set of numbers.

One
  • Live in four months

The full implementation, from procurement to yarn sales, was completed in four months without stopping production.

  • 100,000 spindles, one system

Every frame and every shift reports into the same system, giving daily and monthly output against plan across the whole mill.

  • Cost known per count

Management sees what each count costs to make, and where it varies from standard, while there is still time to act.

  • One ledger, end to end

Procurement, production and sales post into the same accounts, so the mill and the finance team work from one version of the truth.
